Construction on a new 7,300-yard course has begun at Diamante Cabo San Lucas has announced plans to build a new 18-hole, 7,300-yard championship golf course to be designed by Tiger Woods and his company Tiger Woods Design (TWD). The TWD designed course will be Diamante’s second and will join the resort’s award-winning championship golf course, Diamante Dunes, a natural links course that opened in 2009. Construction on the new course, named “El Cardonal” began in September, and is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete.

Diamante Cabo San Lucas has announced an exclusive agreement with Cabo fitness guru, Modu Seye. Modu is launching a comprehensive fitness program for Diamante and is helping with the introduction of the resort’s state-of-the-art workout facility. The Diamante Health and Fitness Club is a 6500 sq. ft., stand-alone building specifically designed to meet every fitness skill level and need, and it is the first in a series of new facilities.

Safe swimmable crystalline lagoon will be centerpiece of The Resort at Diamante

Diamante Cabo San Lucas (Diamante), a 1,500 acre private oceanfront community with 1.5 miles of Pacific coastline has announced plans to build an 11-plus acre swimmable salt-water lagoon.

The lagoon will be designed by Crystal Lagoons, a company with a patented technology that allows them to build crystal clear lagoons of unlimited size anywhere in the world.

The World Club Championship Committee extended an invitation to Diamante Cabo San Lucas to host one of the most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in the world. In the fall of 2012, the 10th anniversary Club Championship will come to Diamante and Mexico for the first time. Previous tournaments were hosted in the United States, China and this year in Korea. The WCC celebrates two of golf’s greatest enduring traditions: Amateur golfers and the world class Clubs to which they belong. Considered one of the most coveted amateur events in golf, WCC is often compared to the Walker Cup and Ryder Cup.

The event features head-to-head competition by the world’s top clubs chosen from GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in the World. Past champions represent golf clubs from Sunningdale GC in England, Kingston Heath GC in Australia, Royal Portrush GC in Northern Ireland, Pine Valley GC and Los Angeles CC in the United States, and Durban CC in South Africa. The 90 minute Championship telecast will air repeatedly on the Golf Channel throughout the world in prime time and on Sky TV. It will be an honor for Diamante to host the 2012 Championship, bringing guests from the world golf club community to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Diamante Cabo San Lucas continues its sales success as we approach the second half of 2011. Ironman Marketing has continued selling the many product opportunities that are available to our buyers, even during the traditional slower summer months. Since the announcement of our Dunes Residence Club (DRC) and Clubhouse in 2010, Diamante has already sold more than 70% of the shared ownership units. In February of this year, the Golf Villa Residence Club (GVRC) was added to our list of offerings.

Diamante continues to move forward at a rapid pace on a number of construction projects. We are currently putting the finishing touches on the Dunes Residence Club/Clubhouse. Stunning views of golf, dunes, and the ocean can be captured from the unit balconies and terraces. Construction of our Golf Villas (GV6 and GV19) are now into the finishing stages, with the plastering of interior walls, exterior stonework and priming, and pool/patio/terrace and roof tile installation all in-process.

Diamante joins a list of the world’s most impressive and famous courses, including St. Andrews in Scotland and the Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters.

Diamante debuts at No. 58 on the list, the second highest ranking of the four new entries to the Top 100 Courses in the World. The magazine called the course “a memorable test carved from ocean dunes in Mexico’s Cabo San Lucas.” The course is also the highest ranked course ever in Mexico.

The 9th World Club Championship presented by GOLF Magazine, one of the most prestigious international amateur events in the World often compared to the Ryder Cup and the Walker Cup, will be played in Mexico in 2012 for the first time in its nine year history. The Championship Committee has selected Diamante Cabo San Lucas (DIAMANTE) to host the week-long competition scheduled for October 29-November 2, 2012.

The World Club Championship was founded by David V Smith in 2002 as a way to celebrate two of golf’s greatest enduring traditions: Amateur golfers and the world class Clubs to which they belong. The Rules of Golf, as adopted by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews govern play. Past Championships have been played in South Korea, China and the United States.

In order to be considered for an invitation from the Championship Committee to this prestigious tournament, Clubs must have appeared on GOLF Magazine’s 2011 list of the Top 100 Courses in the World. These clubs have the opportunity to send their club champion along with a player of his choice to compete for the Jay Lee Trophy.

A field of 20 of GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses from 15 countries will be invited to participate in 2012. Durban Country Club in South Africa will return to defend its title along with second place Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland, third place Seminole Golf Club in Florida and Royal Troon Golf Club from Scotland who won the Chairman’s Division in the Loser’s Bracket. Formal invitations will be extended to other Top 100 clubs in spring 2012.

The 2012 World Club Championship will be aired on the Golf Channel and Sky TV around the world.

Due to GOLF Magazine’s recent announcement voting Diamante Dunes the #1 New International Golf Course in 2010, panel members from the TOP 100 IN THE WORLD rankings have been flocking to Diamante over the past several weeks. “It is a tremendous honor to be nominated and considered as one of the world’s top golf courses,” states Diamante Dunes Director of Golf Erik Evans. “We have received excellent feedback from panel members and will continue to make improvements to the course based on the feedback,” says Diamante Dunes Superintendant William Ousterhout. The results for the TOP 100 rankings come out in September, 2011.
