The Diamante Dunes Course, with its improved Golf Magazine ranking to No. 52 in the World, is pleased to announce details about our newly designed 12th and 13th holes. Both holes are already under construction, and we are currently installing the irrigation systems.
We will immediately follow with grassing the green complexes in anticipation that they will be complete and ready for play in the fall of 2014. The new holes are routed towards the oceanfront and are both strategically and visually dramatic, “The two holes will now be more in line with a traditional links golf course design,” says Diamante Developer, Ken Jowdy.
12th Hole –
The new 12th is an exciting addition to the Dunes course and Davis Love III and his design team believe it is going to be one of our best. A traditional redan style hole, this green is wider than it is deep and angles diagonally away from the tee box. Larger bunkers fronting the left portion of the green also protect it. Redan holes are so-called because they are all copies of the original, which is No. 15 on the West Links at North Berwick Golf Links in Scotland. The hole is a dogleg right par 5, with a green that slopes down and back, which creates multiple opportunities for pin placement and challenging approach shots.
13th Hole –
The new 13th hole will play downwind into a green complex that is a 12,000 square foot punchbowl. Potentially a drivable par 4 for the long hitters, strategy and shot making will make this an especially challenging and enjoyable hole for all players.
